01 / Beneath the surface

One system.
Every layer has a job.

Springpress is a continuous metal strip carrying closely spaced springs. It is wound around the roll, with a needle-felt textile cover above it.

01

A responsive foundation.

Individual springs yield under thicker areas such as hems and help support the linen around them.

02

A replaceable textile surface.

Springpress specifies two turns of suitable needled textile over the spring layer. The felt forms the working cover.

03

A path for moisture.

On ironers with suction, moisture passes through the cover and spring layer into the perforated roll.

02 / Where performance begins

It comes down
to good contact.

Heat reaches the linen through the chest. Padding must keep that contact consistent as the roll turns and textile thickness changes.

Consistent support

Make the heated
surface count.

Correct roll clothing supports effective heat transfer. The spring layer helps accommodate unevenness between roll and chest.

Local flexibility

Give a little.
Keep the finish.

Elastic support lets thicker seams pass while helping the surrounding fabric stay against the chest.

Moisture removal

Let the vapour
find its way out.

Permeable padding supports moisture extraction. Vacuum settings and duct condition also influence drying.

Technical principles: Springpress — Top Ironing Efficiency by Right Clothing. Actual output also depends on the ironer, linen, moisture and operating conditions.

03 / The buying guide

The right spring.
For your ironer.

Start with the machine model. Spring type, height and working conditions all matter; roll diameter alone does not determine the specification.

What to specify

Application
Chest-heated flatwork ironers
Spring type
S or H, selected for machine pressure and pre-compression
Spring height
Matched to the roll-to-chest space and intended textile cover
Material options
Galvanized or stainless steel; confirm the required version
Textile cover
Two turns of suitable needled textile, selected for the machine and operating temperature
Order quantity
Strip length in metres; depends on type, roll dimensions and number of rolls

Plan your enquiry

How much spring strip?

Estimate both types from roll dimensions. Your confirmed spring type determines which quantity applies.

Enter your roll dimensions for an indicative strip quantity. We’ll confirm the spring type and final order length with your quotation.

04 / From selection to installation

Know the product.
Prepare the job.

Use the manufacturer’s documents alongside your ironer’s service instructions. Installation requires a qualified team and the correct setup.

Plan the full replacement, not just the strip. Confirm the spring specification, textile cover, installation team and machine checks before scheduling the work. Springpress’s application guide calls for at least three people and describes a tensioning device and end-securing method.

05 / Useful answers

A little clarity.
Before you order.

What is flatwork ironer spring padding?

It is the resilient spring layer fitted around an ironer roll beneath the textile cover. In the Springpress system, springs are formed along a continuous metal strip that is wound onto the roll.

Is spring padding the same as ironer felt?

They are two separate layers. Springs provide resilient support; felt provides the textile covering above them. Specify which layer you need, or ask for both in your enquiry.

Can I use it on any flatwork ironer?

This page covers chest-heated ironers. Compatibility needs to be checked against the exact model and its required padding arrangement. Send the machine brand, model and existing specification before ordering.

How often should the springs be replaced?

We do not quote a universal replacement interval. Ask your technician to assess the existing springs and felt against the machine’s service requirements. Send the operating history and photographs when discussing a replacement.

Can I choose the spring height from roll diameter?

Roll diameter alone is insufficient. Spring height also depends on the available space, textile thickness and required pre-compression. Use the machine specification and consult a qualified technician before choosing a spring height.

What affects the price and delivery time?

The confirmed type, height, material, strip quantity and delivery destination determine the quotation. Share these details where known; RONS will confirm availability, price and delivery for your requirement.
